INTRODUCTION

Dear Illustrious Sir:

We at Midian Temple and the city of Wichita are very excited to have the

opportunity to "roll out the red carpet" for CSSA 2000.

You will find pertinent information you can share with your nobles and ladies. You will readily see that my staff and committees have made a commitment to organize and operate a professional convention. Ultimately it is our intention to provide activities and a variety of functions for all who attend. This will be a great opportunity for all of us to participate and share in fellowship, fun and frolic.

As Potentate of your Temple in 2000 you will have a tremendous impact on your Nobles and Ladies when you encourage them to attend CSSA 2000 in Wichita. It will be a rewarding experience for all who attend.

Yours in the Faith,

Jim McNerney PP ‘84

Director General

HOUSING COMMITTEE.

Our Housing Committee worked diligently to satisfy each Temple according to the number of of rooms required and to fulfill their special requests. Furthermore they assigned you to a facility that was highly recommended by our Convention Bureau.

Wichita does not have many hotels with a capacity to accommodate a request of 275 or more. For this reason you may have been placed in more than one facility. None of the facilities assigned are more than fifteen minutes from Century II, Midian Shrine or the Hyatt Regency, our headquarters.

Hopefully you have established a contact at your assigned hotel/motel to negotiate room rates and special requests. Also, I would highly advise you to execute a written contract between your Temple and your assigned properties.

If you are experiencing a problem or need some assistance, please notify us at Midian (316) 265-9676. Changes CAN NOT be made without our Housing Committee's approval.

Housing Committee: Noble Ron Stowell and Noble Mike Phipps

REGISTRATION

The registration fee for CSSA 2000 will remain at $10.00 for each noble and each lady. To operate a first class convention we need these funds to assist in covering our expenses.

A special pin has been designed for CSSA 2000. It will have a small flashing light that can be seen at a distance to identify the registered nobles and ladies. These pins MUST be worn at all times when attending any of our scheduled events. This includes entering the Market Arcade, participating in the parades, competition and to gain admission to the block party. This pin will be in all registration packets. For those registering late, a pin can be purchased for $10.00 at the Registration Table in the Hyatt Regency Convention Area.

It is IMPERATIVE that we receive the $10.00 registration fee from each of the nobles and ladies by the cut-off date of June 15, 2000.

REGISTRATION PACKET

When your nobles and ladies attend CSSA 2000 in Wichita they will receive more than a program and a momento. They will receive an actual packet with some quality gifts included. The CSSA 2000 Admission Pin will also be included in the packet.

The problem we will be confronted with is having enough lead time to purchase the amount of gifts and registration pins required. That is why it is very important that the list of your nobles and ladies who have registered be sent to us along with their money prior to the cut-off date of June 15, 2000.

Registration Packets can be picked up at the Midian Shrine anytime after 9:00 AM Thursday, August 31, 2000.

Noble Merle Cannon and his committee will put the packets together and distribute them.

CSSA CONVENTON PROGRAM

A quality program is necessary simply because it acts as a guide for all the nobles and ladies who attend. It not only highlights all activities surrounding the Shrine Convention, it will inform you of interesting points regarding Wichita.

We will sell advertisement to help defray the cost of the program. If any of you are interested in purchasing a half or full page to honor your Divan or to share the history of your Temple, we will be happpy to accommodate you.

We will send you more information on the program early next Spring.

Program Coordinator: Noble Ron Stowell

MARKET ARCADE

Over the years there seems to have been a deterioration of the CSSA Market Place. At least it does not seem to attract the number of vendors or nobles and ladies as in the past.

We have a great facility, Century II, located next to the Hyatt Regency. It is accessible to all who want to attend. Our plan is to have more than Shrine Merchandise booths. We are working on inviting arts and crafts merchants as well as local businesses who would sell merchandise of interest. ttere again we want to have a Market Arcade that offers a variety of items; something for all nobles and ladies who attend.

REMEMBER--anyone who does not have a registration pin will be charged a fee to gain admission. Nobles and ladies who have a pin will be admitted free.

Noble Paul Morris and his committee will operate the Market.

LADLES LUNCHEON

This is another event that requires months of planning. You are all aware of the many details that goes into a luncheon of this magnitude.

Lady Connie Arnold has been putting together a program that all the ladies will enjoy. The luncheon will be at the Airport Hilton Hotel on Thursday, August 31, 2000 at 11:30 AM.

Early next spring you will receive more information and the cost per lady to attend.

Again I want to emphasize the importance of receiving your list of ladies who plan to attend and their money prior to the cut-off date of June 15, 2000.

GRAND PARADE

The All Temple Parade will commence Saturday, September 2, 2000 at 9:00 AM. At this time we do not have a parade route other than to assure you it will be in downtown Wichita.

The success of the parade starts at the staging area. To assure there will be a consistant flow, a time and place to assemble will be assigned to each Temple. Our parade chairman does not want anyone standing around for any length of time so it will be important for each Temple to follow the assignment they receive to eliminate "bottle necks".

There will be refreshments at the end of the parade and transportation for those who request it.

Parade Marshall: Noble Al Hurt
